Handbook of Relational Pedagogy:
Call for abstracts
Introduction
You are cordially invited to submit an abstract for a chapter to be included in the Handbook of Relational Pedagogy, to be edited by Ann Louise Ljungblad (Malmö University, Sweden), Merete Moe (Queen Maud University, Norway), Leah O’Toole (Maynooth University, Ireland) and Ilona Rinne (University of Gothenburg, Sweden). Please feel free to also share this call with colleagues.
The Handbook of Relational Pedagogy will draw together the ‘state of the art’ of relational pedagogy, with chapters exploring relationships in education from early childhood, through primary / elementary education and secondary education, up to graduate / postgraduate and further / vocational education. We are interested in chapters from a theoretical / conceptual perspective as well as those based on empirical data or those rooted in educational practice.
We have been in dialogue with Routledge Publishers (London) and they have expressed in-principle approval to publish the book, but a formal book proposal will be submitted when chapter abstracts have been approved.
Procedure
Please use the template below to submit an abstract of 300-500 words to leah.otoole@mu.ie outlining your proposed chapter and how it fits with the theme of the Handbook. Abstracts will be chosen based on the following criteria:
- Mapping the field – we wish to include a range of perspectives from early childhood to adult education
- Worldwide mapping - range of cultures and contexts
- Themes that emerge
- Range of theoretical, empirical and practice based chapters
- Range of disciplines
Deadline for submission is relatively open and you will be informed of the outcome.
Please note that completed chapters will go through a process of blind review before final acceptance to the Handbook. More information on timelines will be provided as soon as possible.
